Colombia
April 2024
10-day trip through the jewel of South America, Colombia. Our trip began in the region with the most coffee tradition: El Quindío, best known as "Eje Cafetero", here we saw first-hand the coffee plantations and their production, in addition to falling in love with the villages (and their sunsets) of Salento and Filandia. The finishing touch to this region is the Cocora Valley, it is simply beautiful.
The next flight took us to Medellín, where we learned about the history of the remodeling of La Comuna 13 neighborhood, while at the same time it served as a base for us to visit the beautiful town of Guatapé and its famous rock.
Our next stop was one of the most anticipated of the trip: Cartagena de Indias, which they say is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and we can attest to this. The atmosphere, the people, the light and everything in general has something special in this city. The walled city is beautiful, but the Getsamaní neighborhood leaves you speechless with its spectacular restaurants, they street art and its salsa nights! It's one of those places on the planet where you don't know why, but you feel better.
With sadness we leave Cartagena behind to visit another of the destinations that we most wanted to visit; Tayrona National Park. And it didn't disappoint either for its fauna (monkeys, sloth bears, birds, etc.) or for its beaches and landscapes. It is highly recommended to trek from Calabazo to Cabo San Juan and sleep there. And you can't leave without having a ceviche at Arenillas beach either.
The last day was dedicated to visiting Bogotá, mainly the Candelaria neighborhood.
Cabo San Juan (Tayrona NP, Colombia).
