THAILAND
December 2024
We started our journey with a long layover in Beijing, where we had time to visit the Great Wall of China and experience the intense cold. The vastness of this architectural marvel, surrounded by nature, is truly breathtaking. We also visited the majestic Forbidden City in the heart of the city, which, surprisingly, impressed us even more than the Wall. We are left wanting to explore more of this fascinating and immense country.
After landing in Bangkok, we took a bus to Ayutthaya, where we spent our first day exploring the spectacular temples of the ancient capital. From there, we traveled north on an overnight bus to enjoy two days in the amazing Chiang Mai. We loved its temples, streets, relaxing massages, and lively atmosphere, but what truly won us over was the food. At night, the streets fill with food stalls (food courts), each more tempting than the last. We also had the chance to watch live and learn more about the national sport: Muay Thai.
The next four days were spent on the country's west coast, in the Andaman Sea, specifically at Railay Beach, a place that offered us a unique sense of peace and tranquility. We had the opportunity to explore some of the most spectacular destinations, such as the famous Phi Phi Islands, where we were amazed by its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking landscapes. We enjoyed freshly caught fish, straight from the local fishermen, while relaxing under the sun on beaches that seemed like they were taken from paradise. We also went snorkeling in incredible spots, surrounded by vibrant coral reefs and fascinating marine life. Throughout it all, we were always accompanied by a refreshing Thai iced tea, which became our inseparable companion during those days.
To close our trip, we visited the vibrant capital, Bangkok. We can sum up the experience in three major highlights: first, the stunning Grand Palace, which truly takes your breath away. Next, Wat Pho, with its incredible 46-meter-long reclining Buddha, a fascinating work of art. Lastly, we explored the bustling Chinatown district, a maze of shops and narrow streets full of life. We left wanting to spend more time discovering this amazing city, but we’ll definitely return to keep exploring.
